    Authorities conclude that Robert called Mac Cimbric is the son of Arnulf and Lafracoth and that Philip was the brother, not a son, of Arnulf.

    Robert arrived in Scotland about 1160 at the invitation of Walter Fitz Alan, the High Steward. Eaglesham lands were probably conferred to Robert upon his marriage to Marjorie, daughter of Walter Fitzalan the High Steward.

    Background Information.
    Mabel, who married Roger de Montgomerie in 1048, was the daughter and heiress of William de Talvas, Cout of Bellême and Alençon. These lands became part of his lands in Normandy. Mabel was killed by Hugh Seigneur de la Roche Igé, of whom Mabel had deprived of his castle. On the night of 2 Dec 1082, Hugh entered her chamber at the Châtequ de Bures, on the Dive, near troarn, and killed her with his sword. Her mutilated body was buried three days after the convent of Troarn. Her murder and his brothers left Normandy, and were never caught by Mabel's sons who pursued them.
