refugee.) To get it home without red tape
he bought a spool of thread, unwound it, and
made a hole in the wooden spool large enough
for the diamond. He then very carefully
rewound the thread and sent it off to his
fiancee, Lillian Riesto. They didn't
explain how he communicated to her that this was
