    Notes 
    • It appears that William may have been in Sullivan County, Missouri as early as 1851. In Nov. 1851 he purchased land in Sullivan County, from his brother John and wife Mary Shatto Montgomery. The deed for this property was recorded February 14, 1852. Also 2 of his children Isaac and Margaret were married in Sullivan County in 1853, and 1854. Both of their spouses had been living in Sullivan County before the marriages. It is not known why William was in Wayne County, Ohio in 1855. He may have been there for his mothers death or to settle her estate since her death date is not known. It is also possible he went to Ohio to marry Mary Ann (Felthousen, Crocker) McCaughey.
