Montgo mery, never married . He was a member o f Company A, 11th No rth
Carolina Regiment, C. S. A. and served from the beginning of the war un til his
death in 1864 . He was prom oted to 3 rd Lieuten ant a short time before he was
killed at Reams Station, Va. He was previously wounded in the Battle of
Gettysburg. Lieutenant W. B. Taylor who was in command of h is Co mpany says
that he was a brave , fearless soldier.
