    • Was living in Oakland, CA, in 1850s. Some time before 1854, he left his wife and two daughters in Oakland, and headed to Mexico in search of mining interests. Was never heard from again.
      Per ME Montgomery Huey's notes, died 1888. See also story from Rufus Alonzo Parks, which includes story about some gold coins he sent from California.

      I recently rediscovered some pages from an old family bible thatdetail the children of Thomas Rowntree. They were very difficult to read and I'm hoping to obtain clearer copies. This is what I was able to decipher, and I think most of it is correct. Maybe helpful to some other Rowntree/Rountree descendants. If I am able to get clearer copies I'll post whatever corrections may be necessary.
