    • Mike
      Michael and brother Frank are living with Aunt Malinda Jane and cousins on 1900 census. Mother Jennie passes away Feb. 23, 1898. It is very likely Mike and Frank are living here as early as 1894. Father Michael abandons the minor children in Kentucky and marries Elizabeth Harden, Nov.29,1900 in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. Mike is in the Elliott county school census for 1905, 1906 and 1907. Brother Henry is his guardian for school and I believe Henry took Mike in to live with him soon after the 1900 census.Mike makes his way to Chicago by the April 1910 census.

      Probe Stabbing of Man Found Dead at Tavern. Chicago Tribune Jan. 27, 1951. "Police yesterday were investigating the death of Michael Kegley, 55, of 435 S. Clark St., who was found dead of stab wounds early in the day in front of Dugan's Cocktail lounge, 446, S. State St. Witnesses told police he was stabbed inside the tavern and then carried to the sidewalk.
      "Walter Lowrey, 34, of 2844 Burling St., a patron in the place, said he saw Kegley, who was sitting next to a Negro woman at the bar, suddenly fall to the floor. The woman fled. Opal Beaver, 34, of 27 E. Harrison St. dice girl in the lounge, said she saw some customers carry Kegley out and that later she called the police.
      "The tavern license is issued to Michael Rizzo and Anthony Circella, brother of Nick Circella, alias Nick Dean, Capone hoodlum who served six years for his part in the extortion of a million dollars from the movie industry. Anthony Circella, who was in the tavern at the time, said he had not seen Kegly fall to the floor or carried from the place."
      Woman Held for Killing. Chicago Tribune, Feb. 3, 1951. "A coroner's jury yesterday ordered Maria Downs, 26, Negro, of 4041 S. State St., held to the grand jury for the fatal stabbing last Friday of Michael L. Kegley, 62, of 435 S. Clark St., in a tavern at 446 S. Clark St."
