    Elizabeth A. (Betty) Carlson, 74, died 16 July after a six-month illness. Funeral services were at Evangelical Covenant Church. Mrs.Carlson married Arthur W. Carlson in 1940.He died in 1996. Survivors include one son, David A. Carlson of Paxton; three daughters:Janice K.Slaughter of Des Moines; Carol A. McCabe of Paxton and Patricia E. Mehelic of Leawood, KN; five grandaughters; one grandson;two great-grandaughters; three sisters; and one brother.
    Mrs. Carlson and her husband farmed southeast of Paxton their entire married lives. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church, the Covenant Women; CMSI (having served as Sec. and a regional vice-president), Ford County Historical Society, Daughters of American Revolution, Paxton Women's Club, past matron of Order of Eastern Star, Paxton Swedish Heritage Days Committee (having served as co-chairman), and a former Girl Scout Sister.
    This obituary was posted along with a picture of Betty in the CMSI news magazine, The Gardien.
